Frequently asked questions.

Who is StreetReady Youth for?

The programme is designed for young people aged 8–15. Enquire with your child’s age and we can explain the current class options.

Does my child need martial arts experience?

No. Sessions are designed to meet young people at their current level. Confidence and practical skills develop progressively.

What will my child learn?

Sessions cover awareness, personal space, boundaries, calm decision-making and simple, responsible self-defence skills through age-appropriate drills.

What should I wear?

Comfortable sports clothing and clean indoor trainers are ideal for a first session. Bring water.

Will my child have to spar?

Training is progressive, structured and controlled. The instructor explains each drill and young people can raise a concern at any point.

Where are classes held?

Halstead Primary School, Sevenoaks, TN14 7EA. Confirm exact arrival instructions when booking.

What is a family self-defence workshop?

A practical session in which parents or carers and young people learn together. It covers awareness, boundaries, de-escalation, escape and simple physical responses through supervised, age-appropriate scenarios.

Who can attend a family workshop?

Workshops are shaped around the family making the enquiry. Tell us who would like to take part and the children’s ages so we can discuss whether the format is suitable.

Does our family need previous experience?

No. Workshops are designed to be accessible to complete beginners and adapted to the people taking part.

Do you offer adult classes?

StreetReady Youth is the main programme. Private one-to-one or small-group adult self-defence training may be available on request.
